Shahid Kapoor and Janhvi Kapoor are set to share screen space in the Hindi remake of Its a Boy Girl Thing. The relationship comedy will be directed by Amit Sharma, who is known for films like Badhaai Ho and Maidaan.
The original Hollywood film has a loyal fan following and is based on the concept of soul swapping. The story follows a boy and a girl who exchange souls and begin experiencing life from each other’s perspective, creating several humorous situations.
The project has generated curiosity because of its entertaining premise. However, the biggest question is whether the remake will connect with today’s audience, especially when several films based on similar concepts have already been released.
Shahid Kapoor’s recent film Cocktail 2 received average reviews and did not perform strongly at the box office. Since Kabir Singh, the actor has been looking for another major commercial success.
Janhvi Kapoor has also faced a challenging phase. Following the release of Peddi, her performance and character became a topic of debate. Many viewers felt her role in the Ram Charan starrer was limited, while the Hindi version of the film also failed to make an impact.
Director Amit Sharma is also looking for a strong comeback after Maidaan underperformed at the box office. As a result, expectations are high for this new project from both the cast and the director.
The film’s central idea remains its biggest strength. Even so, the makers will need to present the familiar soul-swapping concept in a fresh and engaging way. Ultimately, the audience response in theatres will decide whether this remake becomes a success.
