Following the severe backlash for her acting performance in Peddi, Janhvi Kapoor is currently starring as the female lead in the Bollywood film Lag Ja Gale directed by Raj Mehta.
In this scenario, now there is strong speculation that Janhvi Kapoor is all set to debut as the female lead in the Kollywood industry with a web series titled Kurathi directed by Sarkunam and produced by Pa Ranjith’s Neelam Productions.
This speculation has surprised many of Janhvi Kapoor‘s fans, as the title itself makes it evident that it is a deeply rooted web series. Hence, they feel it requires a solid acting performance and might not suit the actress.
Earlier, when Janhvi Kapoor spoke so fluently in Tamil during her speech at the Devara Tamil pre-release event, many Kollywood audiences expected that she would soon debut in the Tamil industry and believed that she would emerge as a prominent actress in the industry for her Tamil fluency.
But, surprisingly, this new speculation is receiving negative responses because people feel that Janhvi Kapoor should debut in the industry with a proper commercial entertainer instead of a rooted web series, arguing that she has made a very bad decision and suggesting that people might not accept this sudden changeover from her.
On the other hand, a few people feel that if this speculation proves true and Janhvi Kapoor acts in this web series, it might end up as a career-changing project for the actress, as they feel that so far she has acted mostly in glamorous roles in commercial films. Therefore, they suggest that if this project ends up as a successful venture, it will pave the way for the actress to do more solid, content-oriented films and help her establish herself as a strong performer.
However, there have still been no official updates on this and it remains to be seen whether Janhvi Kapoor will debut in Kollywood with the web series Kurathi and if she does, how it is going to take shape in the future.
