Sitaare Zameen Par Collections

Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par managed to leave a positive impression among the audience and has collected Rs. 120 crores so far. However, it is still far away from beating the collections of Shah Rukh Khan’s Fan and Zero, released in 2016 and 2018.

SZP’s collections have been impacted due to the overseas numbers, which are reported to be below average. The film has accumulated $6 million in ten days at the overseas markets and is expected to end its theatrical run at $8.25 million in the same belt.

Notably, the numbers are lower than those recorded by Fan and Zero overseas. The former’s overseas collection was reported to be $10.8 million, and Zero managed to gross $10 million, which is a lot more compared to SZP.

SRK continued to create records overseas in 2023 with Pathaan and Jawan, as their numbers were reported to be somewhere between $48 and $49 million. The overseas numbers of Fan and Zero, if converted from dollars, sum up to Rs. 65.5 crores and Rs. 70.3 crores.

This is undoubtedly proof that Aamir has been rejected by the overseas audience. Although SZP was a good attempt from Aamir to provide something different to the audience, the film’s content was restricted to the multiplex goers and could not appeal to the masses.

Aamir has a record of doing very less action films, and despite that, films like 3 Idiots, PK, and Dangal managed to pull audiences in both multiplexes and single screens.

This means that Aamir is not focusing on the commercial elements that can make his film successful. The songs of SZP went unnoticed, and since the entire film focused on comedy except for the climax, audiences were not able to connect with the characters.

Hopefully, SZP should turn out to be a lesson for Aamir to understand what the audiences want to see in theatres.
