Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par is now in its second week, and as per the latest update, the film has managed to touch the mark of Rs. 130 crores on Tuesday, July 1. The film was originally released on June 20, 2025, and featured Genelia Deshmukh as the female lead.
Notably, the film collected Rs. 3.75 crores on the second Tuesday, and the main reason behind that was the lower ticket rates. It is now expected to cross Rs. 150 crores by the third week and is supposed to touch Rs. 135 crores by the end of the second week.

However, the film still has a long way to go in terms of becoming a big blockbuster with collections of Rs. 200 crores or more, as its lifetime collections might not cross the mark of Rs. 175 crores.
Although it was possibly the first time that Aamir did not release his film at a festival, the collections could have been better, considering that Aamir is in the lead.

The film’s content has attracted a lot of people, but at the same time, the response has not been up to the mark in single screens, where people crave for mass entertainment with action, romance, and some glamour in the form of item songs.
The current number of Rs. 130 crores was achieved in two weeks and this is something that is not expected from an Aamir Khan film. Aamir has delivered better numbers in the past and based on the ongoing situation, SZP should be called a flop.

Although the film’s budget is reported to be between Rs. 90-120 crores, the recovery should be almost up to Rs. 200 crores to call it a clean hit. The film has managed to do an okay business and has still suffered losses due to its limited appeal to the multiplex audience.
While it cannot be said that Aamir has managed to bounce back, there is an expectation that the superstar’s choices of scripts are supposed to become better after SZP.
Even if many people say that audiences are tired of watching masala films, Aamir should now select something that does not go overboard in terms of action and presents him in a different form. Let’s wait and see if that happens.
