Sitaare Zameen Par

Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par is still running in theatres despite facing competition from other films like Maa, F1, and Megan 2.0. The second week of the film is also going well as it has managed to attract a decent number of audiences to the big screen.

The latest update says that multiplex exhibitors are reportedly planning to felicitate Aamir Khan for bringing his film directly to the big screen and avoiding OTT. However, an official confirmation is currently awaited on the same.

Aamir Khan took a different step this time to ensure a successful run of SZP as he did not sign any OTT deal before the release. A few sources claimed that he was aiming to follow the pay-per-view model, but Aamir never confirmed anything from his side.

A similar step was previously taken by Unni Mukundan’s Marco, which led to speculations that the film will be released on Netflix. However, it ended up premiering on Sony Liv, and the Hindi version came out on Amazon Prime Video.

Aamir has previously addressed people’s disinterest in coming to theatres due to the process of releasing films on OTT around eight weeks after release. The superstar was undoubtedly not willing to take a risk in such situations, and it was a smart move from his side to reject OTT deals of different prices.

Although SZP has not attracted the single screen audiences, it has helped bring some revenue to theatres that have been facing losses, specifically from certain Hindi films in the last few months.
