Akshay Kumar 2025: Comeback or Controlled Damage?

Akshay Kumar Comeback 2025

Akshay Kumar’s films used to attract a lot of audience before the COVID-19 pandemic, irrespective of the content. However, things changed after the pandemic and with the exception of Sooryavanshi and OMG 2, most of Akshay’s films have flopped so far.

However, 2025 has still been a good year for Akshay despite that his films did not turn out to be big hits. The films maintained a decent gap between their release in theatres and this has helped the films to accumulate some profits in terms of box office collections.

The year started with Sky Force, which did an average business at the box office and the patriotic theme was loved by the audience. Then there was Kesari Chapter 2, which also managed to pull viewers to the big screen due to the content that left an impact on the minds and hearts of everyone.

The latest was Housefull 5, which recorded a decent opening for Akshay Kumar after a long break. With an estimated budget of Rs. 225 crores, the film failed to recover the money invested.

However, it is expected to end the theatrical run with collections of somewhere between Rs. 160-170 crores, which is a good number for an Akshay Kumar film. If the content was up to the mark, Housefull 5 could have emerged as a bigger blockbuster.

The above-mentioned examples have confirmed that audiences are interested in watching Akshay Kumar on the big screen. But the only condition right now is that he has to try different genres instead of doing a film of the same genre every time.

It is also important for Akshay to understand the negative impact of overexposure and he now has to maintain longer gaps between his releases to ensure that audiences crave to watch him in theatres.
