The long-awaited trailer for Rajinikanth’s action-packed film Coolie has finally dropped, but the response hasn’t been as explosive as expected.
Despite the star-studded cast featuring Nagarjuna, Upendra, and Aamir Khan, the trailer received a lukewarm reaction from viewers. While it does try to blend high-octane action with emotional drama, many fans felt underwhelmed and expected much more from the presentation.
A significant point of contention is the early reveal of Aamir Khan’s character in the trailer. Several fans believe the makers should have kept his role a secret to preserve the element of surprise.
The decision to include Aamir Khan prominently might have been intended to draw in the Hindi-speaking audience, but this move appears to have backfired. Viewers argued that Aamir Khan currently lacks the box office magnetism needed to pull in a Pan-Indian audience.
In contrast, many praised Shah Rukh Khan for having turned down the role in Coolie, especially after the trailer’s average impact. Fans noted that director Atlee had successfully portrayed SRK as a mass superstar in Jawan, while Lokesh Kanagaraj’s portrayal of Aamir Khan in this film seems comparatively weak. The general opinion is that SRK’s presence might have boosted the film’s chances significantly at the box office.
As it stands, the anticipation surrounding Coolie has taken a hit. The trailer, which was expected to kickstart major buzz, has left fans unsure about what Lokesh Kanagaraj has in store. Although some believed Coolie could be the first Tamil film to cross the ₹1000 crore mark, the current reactions make that milestone feel increasingly uncertain.
