Thamma 30 Cr Day 1: Really Possible or Clever Hype?

Thamma box office release on Diwali

Thamma is all set to release tomorrow as Diwali celebrations continue across the country. Expectations are sky-high, and both fans and trade analysts are already debating its box office potential.

The film is hitting about 4,000 screens nationwide, marking Maddock Films’ biggest release yet. Analysts predict Thamma could earn around ₹30 crore on its opening day, thanks to the post-Diwali holiday rush.

The songs have already clicked with audiences, and with the horror-comedy genre trending, a strong turnout is expected. The film also enjoys a five-day weekend window (Wednesday to Sunday), giving it ample time to make an impact at the box office.

Trade experts estimate an opening weekend collection between ₹120-140 crore. However, some fans think these numbers are exaggerated, calling them inflated predictions by “samosa critics.”

Fans argue that Maddock Films often self-books and boosts box office figures to create hype. They cite examples like Stree 2, Sky Force, and Chhaava, where collections were allegedly overstated.

As a spiritual successor to Stree 2, Thamma carries high expectations and even higher risks for Maddock Films. Adding pressure, the film will clash directly with Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, starring Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa, which is also releasing tomorrow.

Many fans believe Thamma might realistically collect ₹15-20 crore on its first day instead of the predicted ₹30 crore. That means it faces two major challenges living up to Stree’s massive success and outperforming Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat at the box office.

All eyes are now on tomorrow to see if Maddock Films’ big Diwali gamble pays off.
