Bollywood’s cult dark-fantasy horror film Tumbbad is finally getting a sequel. This time, the makers are planning it on a much bigger scale.
Actor-producer Sohum Shah has joined hands with producer Jayantilal Gada to make Tumbbad 2. The film will carry a massive budget of ₹150 crore. Shooting is expected to begin in 2026.
The original Tumbbad, released in 2018, was made on a budget of just ₹5 crore. Despite limited resources, it delivered stunning visuals for a genre rarely explored in Bollywood.
Although the film struggled at the box office during its theatrical run, it found new life after its digital release and slowly earned cult status.
With Tumbbad 2, expectations are naturally high. Fans want the sequel to carry forward the creativity and unique vision that made the first film so memorable.
The new budget, nearly 30 times bigger than the original, gives the makers a chance to build a spectacle that can stand alongside international fantasy dramas. The story remains under wraps, but fans believe Tumbbad is set for a larger-than-life comeback.
