After his performance in Band Baaja Baaraat, Ranveer was seen in Lootera, playing a sombre character. Impressed by his performance, Sanjay Leela Bhansali decided to cast him alongside Deepika Padukone in Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela.
Everyone believed that this newcomer in the industry was there to stay.

Ranveer went on to deliver hit films like Padmaavat and Gully Boy. But his PR had other plans.
Because of the hype created around Ranveer, he was soon seen in every advertisement. He attended every promotional event, and every ad big or small.
Soon, Ranveer’s face was everywhere. And people were sick of it.
The reason a big star remains successful is because people anticipate when they will make his next appearance. But when the star is seen in every ad, every award show, and every event, fans start to dislike him.
While there are other reasons for the downfall of Ranveer like his controversial photoshoots and the rocky portrayal of his relationship, we could almost entirely blame it on his PR. They wanted to portray him as an extremely extroverted guy, but people were fed up with it.
Ranveer is one of the best newcomers we have seen in a while. His dedication, his energy, and his craft are all exceptional. But due to his excessive PR, his face value has dropped drastically.
However, hope is not all lost. Shah Rukh Khan also faced a similar slump in his career when he delivered flop films like Jab Harry Met Sejal and Zero. But soon he recovered, and that too how.
If Ranveer decides to work on his PR strategies, he could definitely make his acting come back, possibly even stronger and better.
