After Maddock and Dharma Productions, Yash Raj Films is also ready to experiment with the horror genre. The production company is planning a project and has hired Abhay Pannu to direct the film.
Latest reports have claimed that Varun Dhawan has been approached to play the lead role. Apart from directing, Abhay Pannu has even written the screenplay for the upcoming film. The project is reported to enter production by the end of 2026, aiming for a theatrical release in 2027.
Although YRF has not confirmed anything yet, netizens believe that the failure of the Spy Universe in recent times has possibly forced Aditya Chopra to take a step that is expected to work at the box office.
However, netizens are not happy with the casting. Most of them stated that Varun Dhawan’s films cannot be trusted to take a big opening, even if the production company backing the project has delivered multiple blockbusters. They have advised the makers that since the movie has not entered production yet, they still have time to cast someone who can guarantee an opening.
On the other hand, a particular section is still supporting Varun’s casting. They stated that the reason for the same is Abhay Pannu. People recalled Abhay’s work in the popular show, Rocket Boys, and said that just like how the director brought a new side out of every actor in that show, he can do the same with Varun.
But many people are questioning whether Abhay will be able to handle a new subject that needs a completely different treatment in terms of writing and direction. Netizens stated that the movie has to be entertaining enough to keep audiences hooked to their seats until the end.
