While the highly awaited debut of Dune: Part 2 will not be in theatres until March 1, it is already going viral thanks to the film’s over-the-top advertising popcorn buckets that are reaching cinema theatres.
As part of the film’s marketing budget, executives produced a reproduction of the planet of Arrakis’ huge sandworms in popcorn bucket form…that doesn’t *just* look like sandworms.
Fans naturally reacted with some thoughts.
“I just want to eat my popcorn, not stick my hand in a monster fleshlight,” one user remarked on X (formerly Twitter). “This should be considered a marketing war crime,” another said.
How are you expected to maximize your popcorn consumption while navigating more buttery appendages? At the very least, when you bring it home, you will have a great discussion starter.
Before you get too excited, keep in mind that the Dune 2 popcorn bucket has yet to be officially announced. Alternatively, it might be a humorous fan-made joke. Whatever its roots, the Dune 2 popcorn bucket has taken on a life of its own. Dune 2 will be released in theatres on March 13. There is no news yet on when or whether popcorn containers will be available.
