Sandeep Reddy Vanga has quickly emerged as one of the biggest names in the Indian film industry following the blockbuster success of Animal. He followed up box office blockbuster Kabir Singh with another humongous blockbuster Animal.
Now, there are media reports that Sandeep has emerged as one of the top paid directors in Indian cinema and he is commanding over Rs 100 crore in remuneration. With Sandeep’s brother Pranay Vanga being the production partner for his films, the payout for the Vanga brothers will certainly be huge, considering that Animal has grossed nearly 900 crores worldwide. This perhaps validates the Rs 100 crore paycheque reports.
Vanga stuck to adult-oriented narrative for both his films (Kabir being a remake of Arjun Reddy, the other being Animal) and it paid off for him. But he seems to be changing his track for Spirit as he says Prabhas will play an earnest cop in this film.
Box office numbers-wise, Vanga’s films are a rage at the ticket counters and they arguably validate his big fat paycheck. Perhaps no other director in India is drawing such a hefty paycheck so early in his career. But the real challenge for Vanga is to keep up his reputation and also the remuneration by trying something out of his tried and tested zone.
If Vanga tries something new with Spirit and delivers a box office winner, then his hefty paycheck is most certainly justified.
