Year 2014 much like the previous couple of years has proved to be a very eventful year at the half stage mark with some very big successes. The number of big ticket disappointments too have been less much top the joy of the distributors. Here is a look at the toppers in the first half according to their grosses and the big looser.
Top of the tops:

1.Race Gurram
Race Gurram starring Allu Arjun proved to be a major game changer for the actor as a star. The film defied all the expectations and turned out to be not just the biggest hit in the career of the actor but also the biggest hit of the year so far. It is now the fourth highest grosser of all time in Telugu cinema.

2.Yevadu
This Ram Charan starrer was a surprise in two ways. First for it to be a big success despite being a delayed release. The second surprise was its underperformance eventually. After a great opening week the film couldn’t sustain given the talk it had and ended up collecting less 50 Cr which looked like a sure possibility during its opening week

3.Legend
The film which begin the summer mania, the first big winner among the summer triple triumphs. Legend gave Nandamuri fans and Balakrishka a film to remember both as a performance and also box office wise after a long. By touching 40 Cr with a superbly sustained long run Balakrishna became the first actor among the senior stars to reach the milestone.

4.Manam
The last film of the summer triple triumph was also its most memorable without any doubt. The film brought cheers to the Akkineni’s and their fans after a long time. Not only the film reached some of the more eagerly awaited landmarks, in what can be termed as ages, an Akkineni family movie has topped the collections for a particular area and emerged as its biggest success. Manam as of now is the highest grossing movie of the year in Telugu in overseas. The farewell film of Nageswara Rao and cameo of Akhil, the film is sure to be remembered for a long time to come.
The big dud:

1.1 Nenokkadine
After a dream run for three years finally Mahesh Babu had a dud in Andhra Pradesh in the form of the big budget action thriller 1 Nenokkadine. The only silver lining here was the overseas performance of the film which reaffirms the numero uno status of Mahesh Babu.
