Director Srikanth Addala is coming up with a film called Pedha Kapu. A newcomer Virat Karna plays the lead role in the film bankrolled by the makers of Akhanda, Dwaraka Creations. The title signifying a caste stirred a discussion and now, the teaser is out.
The movie is set in the 1980s. It starts with the voice-over of NT Ramarao talking about the plight of Andhra Pradesh in Congress rule announcing his foray into politics.
Then, we are introduced to a village where there’s a dominance of two powerful people. The villagers are left with no other option other than to die between these two. Then, there is the protagonist who tries to break the shackles to free the village.
One is left wondering if it is the story related to NT Ramarao. Back then, NTR picked candidates of Zero background and fred many such villages from the clutches of the feudalists.
Towards the end, Tanikella Bharani is seen saying they will ensure the win of ‘Pedha Kapu’ if he is given the ticket. We do not know if the other person on the phone is NT Ramarao. If yes, that will make Pedha Kapu, a film about NT Ramarao’s success story of how he brought many commoners into politics.
Using Kamma – Kapu will further speak about NTR’s greatness to some blind people of this age. This angle of NTR’s greatness is not much explored in cinema.
There is also a chance that NTR’s speech will be just used for context to tell a different story. The teaser definitely stirs interest.
The technical aspects of the teaser are also good. The makers have also announced to release the movie on August 18th.
