Reports are circulating online that a planned collaboration between Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and Kollywood director Lokesh Kanagaraj may have been shelved. Speculation suggests this could have been Aamir Khan’s much-talked-about superhero project with Lokesh.
According to some reports, the project had been confirmed a few weeks ago. The script, described as action-packed, was said to be ready long ago. It was also reported that the film would begin after the release of Kaithi 2.
Many netizens believe the project could have been Irumbu Kai Mayavi, which Lokesh once described as his dream film. Originally expected to star Suriya, Tamil audiences accused Lokesh of sidelining Suriya when Aamir Khan was brought on board.
Currently, reports suggest the project has been shelved due to the mixed response to Coolie. The Rajnikanth-starrer received backlash from sections of the audience despite grossing Rs. 500 crores. It is also set to stream on Amazon Prime Video on September 11.
Viewers were disappointed with Aamir’s cameo in the climax of Coolie. Many felt his role, which had potential to be powerful, was wasted and even described it as a joke. Fans expected a stronger and more intimidating presence.
Social media buzz claims that Aamir might have taken this criticism seriously. Some believe this has strained his professional relationship with Lokesh Kanagaraj, ultimately leading to the cancellation of their much-anticipated film.
