The post-Covid era has been awful for remakes. After the advent of OTT, the audience has been brutally regretting remakes in all industries. Bollywood has seen disasters like Bachchan Pandey, Laal Singh Chaddha, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, Shehzada, and many more.
Tollywood has also seen many flops like Godfather, Ori Devuda, Bholaa Shankar, and some others.
But there’s one actor who has delivered not one but two super hit films in the OTT era with remakes. He is none other than Ajay Devgn.
Drishyam 2 was a surprise blockbuster in 2022. In 2023, his remake of Kaithi as Bholaa was a below average grosser. Now his latest film Shaitaan is turning out to be a big hit.
Shaitaan is made on a modest budget. The film garnered an opening of 15 crores on its opening day which is very good for a film in this space. A medium-budget film, with no big star cast and hit music, and that too a remake getting such an opening is quite good.
The second-day collections have seen a big jump as the families are endorsing the film big time. The climax of the film makes Shaitaan a satisfying watch. The first weekend is racing towards the 50-crore mark and will ensure the film is a success at the box office.
If Monday sustains, then it can even emerge as a solid hit with lifetime business in the range of 125 crore net.
