Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Akhanda has done something that no other film since the start of the releases after the second lockdown has been able to do. It has achieved the impossible task of breaking even in most territories in Andhra Pradesh.
As one is aware by now, the ticket rates in Andhra Pradesh have been slashed considerably. Anyone caught selling with hiked rates is facing issues from the government. It has made it extremely difficult for the big movies to break even in Andhra Pradesh territories.
Akhanda, so far, is the only movie that is seeing break-even status in the various areas of Andhra Pradesh. Nellore was the first to reach the mark. The rest were seen as impossible to achieve, but Akhanda has surprised the trade with its long legs.
No movie has had the long run as Akhanda across the territories in the recent past. A couple of films had similar runs, but they were restricted to a particular area or two. Akhanda has been doing the same all over and for nearly four weeks.
It has enabled Akhanda to get to the break-even mark in more territories. As things stand, after the end of the fourth weekend, Akhanda has reached break-even numbers in almost all the areas barring Guntur and Krishna. Given the long run and another weekend ahead, it might come close in Krishna too.
The combination of Nandamuri Balakrishna and Boyapati Srinu has scored hat-trick success as promised before release. Akhanda stands tall as the highest-grossing Balayya movie by a mile. It has brought a smile to everyone associated with the film in these tough times.
