Akhil Akkineni is returning to the big screen after a gap of nearly 3 years as his upcoming film Lenin is releasing tomorrow July 10. This happens to be one of the ambitious attempts from Akhil and his first try at rustic cinema.
Akhil had mostly been doing urban films that primarily revolve around love drama and contemporary emotions. For a change, he is going after rustic and raw content.
Akhil appeared to be very confident about the kind of output that has been generated, and this reflected in his interviews as he frequently referred to this film as Mahabharatham. Sign of confidence is always a good thing for a film.
More than anything, Akhil needs solid, commercial success at the ticket counter at this point as his market needs to be established very strongly. It has been a while since his debut, and Akhil is to make a significant impact on the film scene and that needs to change as soon as possible.
The positive thing for Akhil here is that Telugu audience are generally receptive of properly made rustic films that have their heart at the right place. So if he can execute a winning film with Lenin, there’s a decent prospect to be had here.
