Ideally, hadn’t it been for the unforced postponement, Pushpa 2 would have released in theaters today. The film was supposed to set the Independence Day box office on absolute fire.
However, due to Pushpa 2’s postponement, the path was cleared for multiple other new releases in multiple languages.

Today’s releases include Double Ismart, Mr Bachchan and Thangalan in Telugu. In Hindi, Stree 2, Khel Khel Mein, and Vedaa released in the theaters.
The interesting thing is that all these six films have notable caste and crew associated with them.

Had Pushpa 2 arrived on this date, most of these films would’ve opted out.
Stree 2 is showing the strong advantage of Independence Day release as it is getting 50 crore start at the box office while it is projected to collect over Rs 400 crore in the domestic market.

This further reinstates that Pushpa 2 missed a golden opportunity in setting the box office on absolute fire this Independence Day long weekend. Certain box office prospects will be eaten into with the delay now.
