Anirudh Struggles to Recreate Rahman’s Magic?

Anirudh Vs AR Rahman

Anirudh Ravichander’s remarkable rise as a music composer, consistently delivering bangers throughout the past decade, inevitably draws parallels with another Kollywood legend, AR Rahman.

This year has been a triumphant chapter for the young musical director as his films Jailer, Leo, and Jawan turned out to be big blockbusters and his thumping BGM played a big part in their success.

The anticipation for “Indian 2” where Anirudh had joined hands with maverick director Shankar heightened the expectations. Especially considering that Rahman had composed the music for the first installment 27 years ago. So the comparisons were inevitable.

But after witnessing the “Indian 2” intro promo, many fans are now voicing their opinion that Anirudh is no match for Rahman’s legacy.

27 years ago Rahman delivered an unforgettable score for “Indian.” The film had one of Tamil cinema’s most iconic background scores. Not just the BGM but the songs also were gems that are celebrated even today standing the test of time.

The song featured in the Indian 2 promo wasn’t up to the mark and didn’t create the required impact. Maybe Anirudh will come up with a compelling BGM for the film, but songs also play very important in Shankar’s films, and comparisons would be drawn with Rahman’s iconic work in the first part.

Anirudh is undoubtedly the best we have today in the industry, but even for him to recreate Rahman’s magic from Indian would be a tough nut to crack.
