Recently, director Sailesh Kolanu started a new trend in Tollywood by bringing in a new hero for the HIT franchise. Usually in sequels, the actor who played the main lead in the first part will continue in the second part as well. But in HIT’s case, Adivi Sesh played the protagonist in the second part with Vishwak playing the lead in the first part.
But the main point here is HIT is more of a cinematic universe than a simple sequel, so outside heroes in subsequent films is undertandable.
But in the case of Prasanth Varma’s cinematic universe, the case is different. He is bringing in a new hero, more so, a Bollywood hero into his PCU. After Hanuman, Varma is doing a film with Bollywood star Ranveer Singh who is playing the lead role in the film, which is also said to be a part of the cinematic universe.
For the first time, a Telugu cinematic universe is having a non-Telugu hero in the lead role and it is happening with Ranveer Singh in this case.
While Ranveer is practically a lesser known or unknown face to the majority of the Telugu audience, his acting prowess is a mainstay. With a positive branding from the outset, he could well get closer to the Telugu folk. Even Ranbir Kapoor started off a less-known face to the Telugu audience and improved his footprint with Brahmastra and Animal. Can Ranveer do something similar?
