Abhishek Sharma is back at the top of the ICC T20I batting rankings, but there is another big change for Indian cricket fans. Ravindra Jadeja has lost his No. 1 position in the Test all rounder rankings after holding it for more than four years.
Abhishek’s return to the top comes after his incredible knock against New Zealand in the third T20I in Wellington. The left hander smashed 113 off just 38 balls, reaching his century in only 35 deliveries. His innings helped India win the match and take a 3-0 lead in the five-match series.
He has now moved ahead of teammate Ishan Kishan, who had taken the top spot in July.
While Abhishek Sharma has reclaimed his place, South Africa’s Marco Jansen has made history in the Test rankings. The left arm pacer is now the No. 1 ranked Test bowler and all rounder for the first time in his career, replacing Mitchell Starc at the top of the bowling list and Jadeja in the all rounder rankings.
South Africa captain Temba Bavuma also gained ground, moving up to second in the Test batting rankings after scoring 179 in the first innings. England’s Harry Brook remains at the top.
India had other gains in the latest update, with Sanju Samson rising to 20th in T20I batting and Arshdeep Singh climbing to 15th among T20I bowlers. Abhishek is back at No. 1, but Jansen’s rise and Jadeja’s fall have made this rankings update a big one for Indian fans.
