It is now almost confirmed that Megastar Chiranjeevi will be acting in the historical project Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy. It will be his immediate next project and will go on to sets soon. Also simultaneously it is heard that Chiranjeevi will be acting in Surender Reddy’s direction for his next. Does that mean he will be directing the historical?

Assuming that is the case, the question one needs to ask is can Surender Reddy pull off a historical? So far based on all the films that he has done, it would be really difficult to wrap that around on our mind. Nothing that he has shot, could make us visualize a historical coming from him.
But should that be enough to write him off? Surender Reddy is undoubtedly one of the most technically accomplished directors in Telugu cinema. He has the skills as a director to make a larger than life cinema for big screen. Dhruva, his last film, was a perfect example and perfect genre for the talented Surender Reddy and he left his mark. However, he still remains in the same position he was before the release. For him to make that big jump as a director into top league, a historical like this is God sent opportunity.
As far as Chiranjeevi goes, a historical after a regular commercial fare like Khaidi No 150 is very good move. If he trusts in Surender Reddy then surely fans too can trust his decision. Let’s see if the combination is made official or not.
