Sandeep Reddy Vanga unleashed the pre-teaser of his upcoming gangster film, Animal, yesterday. The response has been mostly good from the audience as well as the critics. But as is the case with almost all films, Animal’s pre-teaser has also been accused of lifting scene from the 2003 Korean cult classic Old Boy.
A section of people on social media is accusing Vanga of blatantly copying the grisliest corridor fight scene from Old Boy, where the hero rips through a hallway of bad guys armed only with a claw hammer.
Some Tamil and Kannada fans were saying that Sandeep Reddy Vanga put Squid Games, Old Boy, The Man From Nowhere & every other Korean action movie in a mixer and served it as ‘Animal.’
Yes, the scene shown in Animal’s pre-teaser looks similar to the Old Boy scene, but Vanga is too talented to shamelessly steal a scene from a film that has been seen by many. He might have been inspired by it like many great filmmakers are when they witness an extraordinarily choreographed action scene.
It is too premature to make such unreasonable comments. We have to wait till we watch the complete film and then pass any judgment. Until then, it’s better to hold our horses and trust in Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
