The Telugu box office has been undergoing a significant slump in recent weeks. Even a big hero film like Ustad Bhagat Singh could bring audience to theatres in numbers.
And now the responsibility has fallen on Adivi Sesh to bring back the audience to theatres with Dacoit which is releasing tomorrow, April 10.
A crucial deciding factor for this film is obviously going to be the credibility that Sesh has built for himself amongst the audience. The goodwill that he has generated over the years with consistently good films is going to be the catalyst.
In terms of advanced bookings, the film has started to sell in the range of 2.5 to 2.6 K tickets per hour on BookMyShow, which is a decent number. The trend might pick up over the evening or tonight.
In terms of pre-release hype, it might be in the moderate segment but Sesh has the good trust of the Telugu folk which must be enough to bring a reasonably good crowd on first day.
After the early push, the film will almost entirely depend on the content that it has to offer, as has been the case with almost all the films in the recent years after Covid. Sesh is fairly confident about the content and that is a good sign.
The cinemas are in need of a considerable box office winner, the industry is in need of a film that reignites audience interest, and the audience themselves are wanting some solid entertainment. All of this will amalgamate into one big portion that could very well open the doors for Dacoit.
