Avengers: Doomsday and Dune Part Three were initially planned to release on the same day, December 18. This was expected to be followed by Jumanji 4 and King a week later, making the month highly competitive.
However, the schedule may not remain unchanged after a recent update by director Joe Russo. A tweet by Wong Updates shared his statement, where Joe expressed uncertainty about the release of Doomsday in December this year.
In his statement, Joe Russo said, “Sora was almost done generating the Avengers first confrontation with Doom when it shut down. How am I supposed to make a movie now?” This has created speculation about a possible delay.
Marvel Studios has not officially confirmed any postponement so far. Meanwhile, online discussions have picked up pace, especially as the makers have already started revealing character looks and setting a promotional timeline for the film.
The return of the original Avengers has generated strong buzz. Fans believe the film will still take a big opening in India even if the release gets delayed, given the popularity of the franchise.
Many users online feel that a shift in the Avengers release date could benefit other films. Fans of SRK are particularly happy, as the superstar may avoid direct competition from a major Hollywood release.
King is reportedly made on a budget of nearly Rs. 350 crores. To recover such a large investment, the film will need a strong opening similar to or bigger than Pathaan and Jawan.
While the remaining Hollywood films have not changed their release plans, some believe they may not pose a major threat if the promotional strategies are effective and content connects well with audiences.
