YSRCP president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has asked his sister YS Sharmila to use his Lotus Pond property in Hyderabad instead of his Bengaluru residence for her daughter Anjili’s wedding.

In a letter dated October 9, 2026, Jagan expressed happiness over his niece’s upcoming marriage but objected to hosting the ceremony at his Bengaluru residence, citing security and privacy concerns.

Addressing his sister as “Dear Sharmi,” Jagan explained that a wedding would bring numerous guests, caterers, decorators, photographers and event management staff into the property. He expressed concern that unrestricted movement and photographs of the premises could pose security risks.

Jagan said the decision was difficult, as he had watched Anjili grow up and wanted the best for her. However, he maintained that the safety and privacy of his family could not be compromised.

*Significantly, Jagan stated that he would have taken the same decision even if the wedding involved his own daughters, Harsha or Varsha.* He explained that his objection was related to the use of his residence rather than the person getting married.

Jagan also expressed disappointment that Sharmila was reportedly proceeding with the wedding arrangements despite his objections.

He suggested organising the ceremony at a convention centre or destination wedding venue, as was done for Raja’s wedding. Alternatively, he offered his Lotus Pond property in Hyderabad.

“I’ve even offered you use of my Hyderabad Lotus Pond property, and that offer still stands,” Jagan wrote.

The former Chief Minister concluded his letter by wishing Anjili a happy married life and requesting Sharmila to reconsider the venue.

YSRCP released the letter on October 24 after Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu criticised Jagan over the family dispute. The party accused Chandrababu of using the controversy to divert attention from alleged irregularities in the Andhra Pradesh local body elections.

The letter presents Jagan’s position that his objections concern security at his Bengaluru residence, while his offer to host the wedding at Lotus Pond remains open.
