NTR’s Devara, released on September 27 last year as a pan-India film, was projected as a grand box-office success, with producers claiming it collected over 400 crores worldwide.
Directed by Koratala Siva, the film turned out to be underwhelming leaving audiences frustrated rather than excited for a sequel.
Currently, NTR is wrapping up War 2 alongside Hrithik Roshan. He is also set to collaborate with KGF director Prashanth Neel for Dragon, while reports suggest another project with Jailer director Nelson Dilipkumar is also in the pipeline.
The big question now is whether Devara 2 will go on floors after Dragon or Nelson’s project. Given Neel’s history of long production schedules, the timeline for Devara 2 remains uncertain.
However, NTR recently fueled speculation during Devara’s Japan promotions.
He claimed, “The first part only showed a glimpse of the story. The sequel will be much bigger. You learned about Devara in Part 1, but in Part 2, you will truly understand Vara. He is not an ordinary person, and Koratala Siva is crafting his character in an extraordinary way.”
While these statements aim to generate hype, even NTR’s biggest fans are skeptical. Last year, NTR had similarly hyped Devara’s climax, calling the last 40 minutes a “rocking experience” with intense action and emotions.
However, audiences found it incomplete and frustrating, ending on an artificial cliffhanger rather than an organic high. Now, with Devara 2, NTR is once again attempting to build anticipation. But this time, fans are cautious.
The lack of excitement surrounding the sequel raises doubts about whether it will even be made or if the project will quietly fade away.
