Dhanush’s upcoming action-drama Kara is gearing up for a simultaneous Tamil and Telugu release on April 30. Directed by Vignesh Raja and produced by Ishari Ganesh, the film recently unveiled its Telugu trailer.
The trailer opens with a striking backdrop of escalating conflict in Gulf nations, referencing attacks on oil reserves in Kuwait. From there, it shifts focus to Dhanush’s character, who appears to be a desperate man driven by money. The film positions itself as a gritty story about survival, greed, and the extremes a common man can go to under pressure.
The trailer is decent but nothing exciting for the Telugu audience to rush for tickets on the first day, first show. Despite Dhanush’s strong screen presence, Kara has not generated significant buzz in the Telugu states. Even a promotional event held in Hyderabad failed to create the expected excitement.
The Gulf-centric backdrop may connect more strongly with Tamil and Malayalam viewers than with the Telugu audience. This backdrop does not excite the Telugu audience, as they cannot relate to it much. Additionally, the absence of any promotional highlight or viral hook has limited pre-release hype.
As a result, Kara now faces a crucial test at the Telugu box office. With almost zero initial buzz, the film will depend heavily on strong content and positive word of mouth after release. If the story execution and performances click with audiences, it could still overcome its slow start. Otherwise, the lack of buzz and hype may impact its overall box office collections, particularly in the Telugu states.
