2025 promises to be another big year for Tollywood in terms of new releases. There are a handful big ticket theatrical arrivals next year, but the common factor between them is the director issues.
First top-six superstar release of the year is Game Changer which is directed by Shankar, who is horribly out of form. The solace here is that Shankar is returning to his strong suit of social drama with a political element with this film and Mega fans are hoping he returns to merry ways with the same.

Then there’s Prabhas Raja Saab with Maruthi and the macho star’s fans are still skeptical of Maruthi’s skills to handle a superstar like Prabhas. Three is a fair deal of skepticism about this supposed horror comedy which is arriving in April.
Next is NTR’s War 2 which is up for release next August. This film is directed by Aryan Mukherjee, who is otherwise a talented director, but his previous film Brahmastra had very shallow writing and poor presentation. There are doubts on how he would execute a multi-starrer with Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR.

Lastly, there is Pawan Kalyan’s Hari Hara Veera Mallu which was earlier helmed by Krish and later moved to AM Ratnam’s son Jyothi Krishna. This film has enough problems with regard to the direction department already.
All in all, every big film of 2025 has a problem or two with regard to its director and all we can hope is that it all comes good and our big league stars deliver box office winners.
