The film is performing exceptionally well in Tamil Nadu and is also doing quite well in select A-class centers in the Telugu states. However, its performance in the U.S. is what’s truly surprising the trade.

By the end of Saturday, the combined Telugu and Tamil versions of Dragon had grossed $443,069. Breaking it down, the Telugu version contributed $140,087—accounting for approximately 31.6% of the total gross—which is an incredibly impressive share.

To put this in perspective, most recent Telugu release Vishwak Sen’s direct Telugu release Laila, which received outright disaster talk from its premieres, ended its full run with just $48,656. But, Dragon’s Telugu version has already tripled that figure within its first weekend, running for just two days so far.

This clearly shows how well the film is resonating with its target audience and how strong word-of-mouth can amplify a film’s success when the content delivers.

Dragon isn’t just popcorn entertainment—it’s built on emotions, and that emotional depth has significantly boosted its word-of-mouth appeal. As we mentioned in our review, the film is packed with emotion and is a must-watch in theaters, not just for its humor but also for its emotional impact.

With the way North American collections are coming in, Dragon looks set for a strong second-week run—something no one saw coming. It’s a clear winner for everyone involved, not just commercially but also in terms of critical appreciation.
