Audiences enjoy a lot when they see their favourite star in disguise onscreen. Speaking on disguises, seniors and veterans rewind their memories of yesteryear films like the one in old classic ‘Illarikam’ where legendary ANR in disguise bursts into a song teasing his lady, Jamuna singing ‘Niluvave Vaalu Kanuladaana…’. For today’s audience it seems to be funny that while we the audiences can easily recognise the actor, the character onscreen acts naive. Just a mole on the cheek or a beard, otherwise sporting goggles or a different hair do are mostly used as disguises. Though they seem to be funny for us now, they are altogether entertaining.
Today audiences’ taste has changed. They can be satisfied with nothing short of a shock like Hrithik’s opening scene in ‘Dhoom 2’ disguised as an old lady. This same Hrithik received the shock of his life when he was fooled by none other than the most talented Vidya Balan recently. Vidya is playing a detective in her upcoming movie ‘Bobby Jasoos’ and for her character she has to do more than half a dozen disguises. In one of her get ups as a beggar, Vidya stalled Hrithik and started demanding alms. Irritated by the beggar, Hrithik had to call his security to throw her out. When the amused unit members burst out laughing, then reality dawned on him that he is being fooled. Kudos for that mastery of disguises Vidya!
