Prabhas films are increasingly becoming more than just entertainment. They are also turning into conversation starters, debate material and, sometimes, unexpected history lessons. The latest example is the Independence Day poster of Fauzi.
The poster shows Prabhas as Fauzi, holding a gun and seemingly moving towards a violent path after differences with Mahatma Gandhi. The visual has already created curiosity, but the bigger discussion could begin once the film reaches theatres.
The Gandhi versus Subhas Chandra Bose debate remains one of the most discussed chapters of India’s freedom struggle. If Fauzi explores this conflict in detail, the film could potentially trigger a massive online debate between Gandhi and Bose supporters, with historical references, arguments and counterarguments flying across social media.
Of course, it is still unclear how Hanu Raghavapudi has actually handled this sensitive subject. But the poster suggests that Fauzi is entering historical territory that could generate serious discussion.
Interestingly, this would not be the first Prabhas film to spark such debates. Kalki 2898 AD triggered endless arguments around Karna and Arjuna, with audiences using mythology to debate who was the greater warrior.
Now Fauzi could bring history into the equation. And that is not necessarily a bad thing. If a commercial film makes audiences curious enough to research Gandhi, Bose and the freedom movement, it can create conversations beyond the theatre.
But there is another concern: time.
Fauzi is officially scheduled for December 3, while reports suggest shooting could continue until September. That leaves a very tight post-production window for a period film expected to require extensive technical and post-production work.
The team is reportedly working on multiple fronts to meet the deadline. Prabhas’ last working date is said to be September 30, leaving almost no room for another delay.
There is also a huge financial incentive to stay on schedule. Reports suggest Fauzi could lose around 20% of its Netflix deal if the release is postponed again. So, Hanu Raghavapudi and his team are racing against the clock.
