Hanuman Ansh Telugu Flops: What Went So Horribly Wrong?

Hanuman Ansh Telugu box office performance

Hanuman Ansh created a sensation at the Hindi box office, but its Telugu-dubbed version has failed to recreate that success. Despite Mythri Movie Makers releasing the film across nearly 700 screens in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the opening numbers have been shockingly low.

The film reportedly collected just Rs. 60-70 lakhs net on its first day. The Saturday growth also wasn’t huge. The two-day collections are somewhere around Rs. 1.80 crores net. For a movie that has already grossed over Rs. 400 crores worldwide, such a poor opening in Telugu is a massive disappointment. The makers expected the film’s phenomenal Hindi success and its spiritual subject to attract Telugu audiences, but the response has been nowhere near expectations or hype.

Simply publicizing its massive Hindi collections was not enough to convince Telugu audiences to buy tickets. Many Telugu viewers had also already watched the Hindi version, reducing the urgency to see it again in theatres.

The film’s content could be another hurdle. Based on the life of Neem Karoli Baba, Hanuman Ansh takes a slow, spiritual approach rather than offering the kind of dramatic moments many theatrical audiences expect. Some viewers have described it as having a documentary-like feel, while others believe the film has been overhyped on social media.

Hanuman Ansh may continue its remarkable run in Hindi and move towards the Rs. 450 crores mark worldwide. But its Telugu release has flopped badly unless it shows miraculous growth from Monday.
