In Just 3 Days, Producer Declares Agent Disaster

Akhil Akkineni’s latest theatrical outing Agent is turning out to be one of the biggest disasters of all time in Telugu cinema. It is not likely to even hit the Rs 10 crores theatrical share mark. Usually, when a project, of such supposed budgets as Rs 80 crores bomb at the box office, there will be blame games. Same has happened with Agent now.

The producer of Agent, Anil Sunkara has shared a lengthy note on social media through which he appears to have directly blamed the director, Surender Reddy for the box office debacle.

“We have to take the entire blame for #Agent. Though we know its an uphill task, we thought of conquering but failed to do so as we did a blunder starting the project without a bound script & innumerable issues including covid followed” Anil tweeted.

The very fact that Anil has stated that a big-budget project like Agent commenced production without a bound script implies he fully trusted in the experienced Surender Reddy and this backfired fiercely.

Right from the start, Anil Sunkara was hyping up the project big time in interviews and social media interactions. And that’s understandable, given the stakes involved and financial implications associated with it.

Anil, as stated by himself, invested over Rs 80 crores on the project. And now that it is putting on a horror show at the box office, he has to take the brunt of the backfire. The regret is to be seen in the note he shared on social media.

When a producer invested such huge amount of money in your project, and the hero went through so much physical training to mould into the right look for your film, you(Surender Reddy) are bound to live up to it, not bring them all down like this, a netizen commented.
