Rajinikanth’s most anticipated sequel Jailer 2 directed by Nelson Dilipkumar is currently in the post-production stage and the makers have officially announced that it will hit the screens on October 15th as a Dasara special.
While everything went smoothly as planned and even in the recently released lyrical video of the first single Ala Bolelo, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, the makers reconfirmed the Dasara release, but now there is strong speculation that they are planning to postpone the film to either Diwali or late December due to delays in post-production work.
Initially, many people didn’t believe this rumor since it originated from Telugu trade circles. However, when the makers of Vijay Deverakonda’s Ranabaali locked and officially announced the October 16th release slot, everyone was left wondering whether the rumors were actually true.
Meanwhile, Dhanush fans have already started celebrating. Dhanush’s OM was initially scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 16th, but Jailer 2 suddenly intervened and locked the October 15th slot, pushing Om to the verge of postponement. Because of these recent postponement rumors, fans believe that if the speculations prove true and Jailer 2 gets postponed, Om will be released as originally planned without any changes.
On the other hand, in response to the postponement rumors, many Kollywood trackers suggest that if the makers of Jailer 2 truly intend to postpone the release, they should lock a better date instead of Diwali.
This is because they note that the highly anticipated pan-Indian film Ramayana is scheduled for Diwali release, so releasing Jailer 2 at the same time could severely affect its box office collections.
Ultimately, there is still no official update on Jailer 2’s postponement and it remains to be seen whether the film will release as planned or move to a new release date.
