Kanguva was a highly anticipated movie. Directed by Siva, it starred Suriya and was made on a massive budget. Producer Gnanavel Raja created significant hype, claiming the film would earn 2,000 crores.
However, after its release, Kanguva faced negative reviews. Many criticized its story, music, and execution.

In this context, Suriya’s wife, Jyothika, shared her thoughts on the movie and the reviews it received on Instagram.
She clarified that she was speaking as a film lover, not as Suriya’s wife. Jyothika admitted the first 30 minutes were jarring but praised the film’s visuals and cinematography.

She expressed disappointment with the extreme criticism of the film by the media. According to her, even vulgar films or misogynistic films rarely face such harsh reviews. She blasted the media for giving the film extremely negative reviews.
She said that Kanguva was deliberately targeted, and that the film doesn’t deserve such negativity and that she has lost faith in the media.

As Suriya’s wife, it is understandable that she would defend her husband’s film. However, one reviewer can be wrong, two can be wrong, but not the hundreds of reviewers and thousands of audience members on social media.
It is foolish to blame the media or reviewers. Kanguva was a film that everyone wanted to like. If the film had delivered even the bare minimum entertainment it might have performed much better at the box office. However, Kanguva fell flat, being outright disappointing from the very first scene to the last.
Yes, a lot of effort was put into the film, but it was in the wrong direction. The ambition was great, but the execution wasn’t. This has happened with many disasters in the past, where makers and their family members defended their film during the first few weeks of release, only to later realize that the audience was correct in rejecting it.
Right now Jyothika is being delusional and she will also someday realize that Kanguva was an epic misfire.
