Keerthy Suresh holds a special place in the hearts of Telugu audiences. Though she hails from Kerala, viewers here have never seen her as an outsider. Much of that love stems from her unforgettable performance in Mahanati. However, after that milestone film, Keerthy’s career in Telugu cinema has not quite reached the same heights.
Despite appearing in several big projects like Sarkaru Vaari Paata, she could not deliver another big hit that matched the impact of Mahanati. Still, Telugu audiences continue to admire her, a sign of the deep connection she built through her earlier performances. Yet that bond has slightly weakened over time since it has been quite a while since Keerthy delivered a knockout performance in Telugu.
Her last full-fledged Telugu outing was Nani’s Dasara, which was a hit but did not give her career the boost many expected. After that, she was seen in Bholaa Shankar with Chiranjeevi, but only in a supporting role as his sister. That film turned out to be a box office disaster. Earlier this year, she starred in the emotional drama Uppu Kappurambu, which went directly to OTT and received little appreciation. In fact, her performance was trolled heavily on social media.
Now, after more than two years, Keerthy is finally returning to theatres with her upcoming film Revolver Rita. Directed by J. K. Chandru, this bilingual project has been made simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu.
Revolver Rita is described as a stylish action thriller that marks a new direction for Keerthy. While she has led several female-centric films in the past, this movie reportedly presents her in a bold avatar. It is said to be in the tone of Nelson and Nayanthara’s Kolamaavu Kokila, mixing humor with thriller elements.
The film’s shoot was completed long ago, but its release faced multiple delays due to post-production and scheduling issues. Now, the makers have finally confirmed that Revolver Rita will hit theatres on November 28. The challenge, however, lies in creating hype for a film that currently has almost no buzz, especially with only 15 days left before release. It also faces competition from Ram Pothineni’s Andhra King Thaluka, which is carrying more buzz and might be the first choice for moviegoers.
Revolver Rita needs exceptionally strong word of mouth to give Keerthy Suresh her much-needed comeback in Telugu cinema.
Meanwhile, Keerthy is also gearing up to star opposite Vijay Deverakonda in Rowdy Janardhan. Along with that, she has several promising projects lined up in Tamil and Malayalam, signaling what could be a fresh phase in her career.
