Actress Kiran Rathod, who was popular in the 2000s for her uninhibited skin show in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil films, is back in the spotlight. This time, her new paid digital platform and its massive VVIP membership fee have triggered a heated discussion online.
Kiran, who is around 45 years old, has reportedly launched Private World for her followers. The VVIP membership is priced at a whopping Rs. 99,999. The package reportedly includes unlimited chats, private video calls, exclusive content and access to private groups.
The price has naturally become the biggest talking point. While some see it as another way for a celebrity to monetize her skin show, several social media users have brutally trolled Kiran over the concept.
Many accuse her of using her glamorous image and men’s attraction towards her to make easy money. A section of users has even claimed that she is effectively selling access to her image and exploiting male lust for financial gain. Others have accused her of encouraging young men to spend large amounts of money chasing sexualized celebrity content and argued that such platforms can have a negative influence on younger audiences.
Some comments have gone further, accusing Kiran of “looting” fans by selling the fantasy of private access while making money from their attraction towards her semi-naked photographs and glamorous content.
Kiran herself has been open about monetizing her glamorous content. In an interview with Shakeela, she admitted that there is significant money to be made from such content and questioned why she should be singled out when other celebrities follow similar strategies.
For now, one thing is clear. Kiran has successfully turned her glamorous image and fan following into a business model, but the Rs. 99,999 membership has taken the concept to another level. The high price tag has also opened her up to intense backlash and trolling.
