Rajini Returns With AI: Why Overhype Rejected Trash Film?

Kochadaiiyaan AI remastered teaser visual

Rajinikanth’s photorealistic motion capture film Kochadaiiyaan, directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth and released in 2014, was a major disappointment at the box office. The film resulted in heavy losses for the production house at that time.

Now, following the recent trend of re releases in Indian cinema, Kochadaiiyaan is preparing for a comeback. The makers are planning to release a remastered version with visuals enhanced using AI technology.

The teaser for the AI remastered version was released yesterday. It quickly went viral on social media platforms. Audiences and critics have shared mixed reactions to the updated visuals.

Several Rajinikanth fans said the film originally had a strong story, screenplay and BGM for its time. However, they believe poor VFX and animation quality led to its failure during the initial release.

Many fans now feel the teaser looks visually improved with the use of AI technology. They believe that if the film is presented with clean detailing and better quality, the re release could become a trendsetter in Indian cinema.

At the same time, some general audiences expressed disappointment with the teaser. They felt the AI version did not look convincing. According to them, the film may face another failure after re release.

A section of viewers also argued that recreating the film using AI disrespects the original VFX and animation artists. They requested the makers to reconsider releasing the film in this format.

With strong opinions on both sides, the response to the teaser remains divided. It will be interesting to see whether Kochadaiiyaan finds success with its AI enhanced re release or faces another setback.
