Adhurs released in 2010, and it still enjoys a special and loyal fan base not just among Jr NTR fans but among Telugu cinema lovers in general. NTR’s comic timing in the role of Chari remains unforgettable even today. Audiences still enjoy his performance and his chemistry with Brahmanandam’s evergreen character Bhattu. Because of this popularity, discussions around Adhurs 2 started almost immediately after the film’s release.
Whenever writer Kona Venkat appears before the media, the sequel topic inevitably comes up. He repeatedly says that the script is ready and that the project can happen whenever NTR agrees. Recently, during the press meet of Band Melam, which he produced, Kona Venkat once again spoke about Adhurs 2. He said that he met director VV Vinayak and discussed the sequel. He also clarified that the first half of the Adhurs 2 script is already ready. However, Vinayak reportedly asked him to narrate the complete story only after NTR finishes his ongoing projects.
There is no denying that Adhurs 2 is an exciting project. Still, the biggest question remains whether NTR is ready to do it. His image has changed significantly since Adhurs. He has now set his eyes on pan-India stardom, and today’s market demands larger scale stories that match that dream. In such a scenario, a full-length comedy sequel may not fit his current positioning.
There is also doubt about Vinayak’s credibility as a director. He has not made a film in a long time and seems to be in a relaxed phase. Even though he shares a strong bond with NTR, many fans believe that Vinayak needs to prove himself again with a hit film before revisiting Adhurs 2. Until then, fans feel that all this talk remains only speculation and should not be taken seriously.
