Disaster Hero’s Comeback: Sreeleela OUT, Krithi IN

Krithi Shetty joins Jhalak film

A casting change has taken place in the upcoming horror comedy Jhalak, with Krithi Shetty stepping in after Sreeleela exited the project. The reasons behind Sreeleela’s departure have not been disclosed.

The change has shifted attention to how the film will shape itself with a new female lead. Casting changes often impact tone and chemistry, especially in genre-driven films like horror comedies.

Jhalak stars Aaman Devgan in the lead role. The project is backed by Devgn Films and Panorama Studios.

For Krithi Shetty, Jhalak marks another step in her gradual move towards Hindi cinema. After making a mark in the South with films like Vaa Vaathiyaar and signing multiple Tamil projects, she has already confirmed her Hindi debut opposite Tiger Shroff.

Taking up Jhalak soon after signals a clear intention to build a presence in Bollywood. However, the film is not being positioned as a major launchpad but rather a steady addition to her Hindi film journey.

The stakes are higher for Aaman Devgan. Jhalak is his second release after Azaad, a period action drama that failed commercially and earned only around Rs. 7 crore domestically.

Despite a special appearance by Ajay Devgn, Azaad did not connect with audiences. This makes Jhalak a crucial project for Aaman Devgan’s career progression.

The makers appear to be relying on the horror-comedy genre, which has delivered consistent box office returns in recent years. Devgn Films and Panorama Studios have previously found success together.

However, genre familiarity alone may not guarantee success. With modest expectations and a changed cast, Jhalak will need strong content to make an impact rather than depend on associations or hype.
