The advance booking for L2: Empuraan has turned out to be nothing short of a sensation. Being a sequel to Lucifer, expectations were high, but no one anticipated the film selling over 90,000 tickets in just an hour on BookMyShow.

The total ticket sales crossed 6.25 lakh, generating an advance booking collection of 10.40 crores gross. These are staggering numbers for any Indian film, let alone a Malayalam one.

The film is also being released on a big scale in the Telugu states by Dil Raju. He is expecting a solid run for Mohanlal’s Lucifer sequel in Telugu.

A few months ago, Sivakarthikeyan’s Amaran was released in Telugu and ate away collections of two Telugu films, Lucky Baskhar and Kiran Abbavaram’s Ka. Lucky Baskhar and Ka did good box office business, but Amaran turned out to be an unexpected blockbuster. Both films were affected by Amaran’s wave.

Now, Mohanlal’s Empuraan is releasing in Telugu on a big level and clashing with two Telugu films, Mad Square and Robinhood. All three films are releasing this weekend.

Whether Empuraan will turn out to be a threat to Mad Square and Robinhood remains to be seen. There has been a shocking jump in buzz for Empuraan over the last few days—not just in Kerala but also in other states. We have to see if this hype spills over into the Telugu states and affects Mad Square and Robinhood.
