Shocker: Lokah Ticket Sales More Than Madharaasi?

Sivakarthikeyan Madharaasi movie still

Sivakarthikeyan’s latest film Madharaasi, directed by AR Murugadoss, hit theatres yesterday. The film has opened to mixed reviews from both audiences and critics.

As Madharaasi is Sivakarthikeyan‘s first release after Amaran, expectations were high. Fans hoped it would be a blockbuster and cross 200 crores worldwide.

However, mixed word of mouth has slowed its momentum. The film is holding steady in Tamil Nadu but is close to a washout in several other regions.

Meanwhile, Kalyani Priyadarshan’s Lokah, which released on August 28, continues to perform strongly in its second week. Reports suggest it is leading Madharaasi in ticket sales.

On social media, some netizens have mocked Sivakarthikeyan, claiming Kalyani Priyadarshan is easily outperforming him. They also argue that Amaran’s 350 crore success was just luck.

With rights sold at a high price, Madharaasi now faces an uphill task to break even. The coming days will reveal whether it can recover or end up as a major setback.
