Maharaja Munjya

After a series of disappoinments like Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Maidaan, The Family Star, Gangs Of Godavari, Love Me, Rathnam, and others, the box office was in a slump. However, amidst this gloom, a few films like Garudan, Srikanth, and Aranmanai 4 provided a glimmer of hope.

But then, out of nowhere, two films emerged as massive hits, defying all expectations.

With its current momentum, it has the potential to even touch the 100 crore mark, although a realistic estimate would be around 85-90 crores.

Down south, Vijay Sethupathi’s Maharaja has become the sleeper hit of the season. Not only has it garnered critical acclaim, but it is also reaping huge returns at the box office.

The film had an impressive opening weekend at the Indian box office, with a remarkable trajectory.

According to trade reports, Vijay Sethupathi’s starrer grossed around Rs. 30 crores in its first weekend. It had a strong start on Friday, collecting Rs. 6.5 crores, and witnessed significant growth on Saturday and Sunday, with Sunday exceeding Rs. 13 crores, doubling its Friday numbers.

Unlike other Tamil films this year, Maharaja has performed exceptionally well outside of Tamil Nadu, particularly in the Telugu states where the Telugu dubbed version gained considerable traction over the weekend.

In the Telugu states alone, the film grossed over Rs. 6.5 crores during the weekend, displaying a rare and strong trend in the region. Additionally, Kerala also witnessed a substantial growth over the weekend after a slow start.

The film’s collections on Monday remained strong, and if the momentum continues, Maharaja has the potential to touch a lifetime gross of 15 crores in the Telugu market alone.
