A leaked image claiming to show Mahesh Babu as Lord Rama in SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi is now going viral on social media and creating a lot of discussion.
The photo shows a shirtless Mahesh Babu in saffron traditional attire with long hair, a beard, and a bow and arrows, standing on what looks like a film set at night. At first glance, it looks dramatic enough to pass off as a Rajamouli-style visual, which is exactly why it spread so quickly online.
But there is one big problem. No one can say for sure whether the image is real or AI-generated.
That uncertainty is what has made the whole discussion more interesting. A section of fans is excited by the look, but many others are not convinced at all. Several users have pointed out the texture of the skin, the overall finish of the image, and the slightly artificial look of the frame as reasons to suspect it could be AI-made or at least heavily manipulated.
As of now, there is no official confirmation, so it is better to treat this as just a viral image for now rather than a confirmed leak from the film.
At the same time, if the image does turn out to be real, then one thing immediately stands out: Mahesh Babu as Lord Rama with a beard would be a very interesting choice by Rajamouli.
It would not be the first time Rajamouli has taken that route. In RRR, he gave Ram Charan a Lord Rama-like image in the climax, complete with the visual symbolism, beard, and intense warrior look. That worked superbly because the moment had emotion, scale, and buildup behind it.
But with Mahesh Babu, it could be a slightly different challenge.
For many people, the mental image of Lord Rama is usually clean, calm, and traditionally presented, not necessarily with a full beard. So, if Rajamouli is indeed planning to show Mahesh in that kind of rugged divine look, it will be a bold visual choice.
For now, though, the bigger question is much simpler: is this really Mahesh Babu from Varanasi, or just another AI image doing the rounds on social media?
