As we had reported last week itself, there were significant number of complaints against director Nelson regarding his latest film Jailer 2. This was not from superstar, Rajinikanth fans from Malayalam Star Mammootty’s fans.
The majority of these complaints is regarding the lack of adequate screen time for Mammootty as they feel that their beloved Hero was disrespected by the makers.
Many of these Malayalam cinema fans had commented that Mammootty has significantly less presents in the film than his Kannada counterpart Siva Rajkumar who also plays a cameo.
They are of the opinion that Mammootty was simply used as a visual optic to generate revenues in Malayalam, but his character lacks any depth. They are fuming on Director Nelson for this and are making their expressions heard as well.
The latest post of Director On Instagram has around 3000 comments and the majority of them are from Mammootty fans. Many of them are commenting that Nelson has disappointed them badly by reducing the role of Mammootty and even threatening to boycott the next part of Jailer for this injustice.
The emotions of fans can perhaps we understood, but at the end of the day, this is going to be a creative choice for director Nelson and the producers. It might not have been unconscious decision to reduce the character length, but there are certain editing challenges that could’ve led to this decision.
