Mythri In Trouble, Dil Raju Smiling!

Dil Raju Mythri Movie MakersMythri Movie Makers is one of the most happening production houses in Tollywood. They forayed into the distribution business this Sankranthi with their films – Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy.

It was said that they are not happy with Dil Raju’s style of working and so, forayed into the business themselves. The distribution office was launched amid huge fanfare.

Their first two films are their own production ventures – Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy. They were successful ventures in the Sankranthi season.

But their business model was baffling since then. They were after micro-small films like Konaseema Thugs, Rangamarthanda, and Chakravyuham. These small films had Mythri written on their posters.

‘Mythri’ may have added value to those films but caused damage to the Brand Value of Mythri. At the time when everyone started to write them off, they hurriedly purchased the Nizam rights of Adipurush and Bro.

Both films have been released with their own set of doubts. Regular distributors of Nizam were cautious and did not go near but Mythri ventured courageously and is repenting now.

Adipurush Nizam’s rights were valued at 50 Crore NRA but the movie just collected around 39 Crore including GST. A solid 10-11 Crore loss here.

And for Bro, the movie has to collect 33 Crore with GST but it is yet to touch the 20 Crore Share. The movie slowed down drastically and there are doubts about the second weekend run. So, another big loss is guaranteed.

People Media Factory is the actual seller in both cases and at best, they may bear the GST.

Again for Adipurush, T-Series is involved (PMF purchased AP and Telangana rights from T-Series). Sources say paying back GST is in the T-series purview and PMF did not give any commitment and that makes things further complicated. Even if considered that is done, Mythri is looking at a solid loss from both films.

Ceeded distributor Sasi is the face of Mythri’s distribution wing. We are seeing him represent the company in the movie functions as well as far as distribution is concerned.

There is a talk in Tollywood that Mythri’s Naveen and Ravishankar are only helping hands to Sasi and it is the latter who is going to take the loss of the business.

But industry insiders say that these amounts are too big for Sasi and the business may not be possible without Naveen and Ravishankar’s participation.

Leaving that topic aside, Mythri is losing capital as well as brand value with these failures and flawed strategies.

The industry says Dil Raju smells trouble shrewdly more than others. When Raju and Sirish are cautious about Adipurush and Bro, Sasi aggressively went after both the films. Now, Dil Raju is smiling!
