This isn’t Nag Ashwin’s first foray into sci-fi; he previously directed “xLife” in the Netflix anthology series Pitta Kathalu, featuring Shruthi Haasan and Sanjith Hegde.

xLife follows a young man who revolutionizes the world with his futuristic technology, X-Life, attracting billions of users. However, the segment received extremely mixed reviews.

While Nag Ashwin’s imagination was praised, the narrative was criticized for being predictable and lacking soul and emotions. Despite impressive VFX and set work, the story failed to engage audiences and was outright silly and boring.

As anticipation builds for Kalki 2898 AD, fans are recalling Pitta Kathalu and expressing concerns about Kalki suffering a similar fate.

Despite the significant budget, grand setup, and Nag Ashwin’s vision, there’s worry that he might not deliver the emotional depth needed for Kalki.

Consequently, fans on social media are advising to keep expectations low for Kalki 2898 AD.

Low expectations could lead to a pleasant surprise and generate positive word of mouth upon release. Conversely, high expectations followed by disappointment could result in a poor box office run.

Pitta Kathalu was a short film for Netflix and it didn’t affect anyone much. But 600 crores have been spent on Kalki 2898 AD and the careers of a lot of people are at stake with this film. Nag Ashwin can’t afford to go wrong this time.

We remain highly hopeful that Nag Ashwin has learned from his previous experience and will deliver a compelling and emotionally engaging film with Kalki 2898 AD.
